Causes
Haemorrhoids are caused when straining occurs
on the blood vessels in and around the anus. Constipation is typically
the cause as it leads to straining which increases pressure on veins
inside the anal canal. Pregnant women and new mums are also susceptible
to haemorrhoids for a number of reasons. The growing baby in the
womb places extra pressure in the abdomen, furthermore, hormonal
changes making blood flow sluggish puts increased pressure on veins.
Straining during labour is also a further cause of haemorrhoids.
